hwtizds:

a study mix i put together. whenever i decide to publish a mix, i revise it until all the songs transition smoothly in terms of melody, rhythm, and lyrical meaning (like i check the first few seconds and the last few seconds of each song several times). ^^;; anyway i hope you enjoy!

安らぎ (yasuragi: a feeling of calm, peace of mind)

  1. Mas Que Nada (Japanese) - Pink Martini & Saori Yuki
  2. Take It Easy My Brother Charlie - Kahimi Karie
  3. It All Depends - Squirrel Nut Zippers
  4. *Puff the Magic Dragon (Japanese) - Pink Martini & Saori Yuki
  5. Softness - Pomegranates
  6. Lovefool (Cardigans Cover) - The Morning Benders
  7. Life On Mars? - The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Soundtrack
  8. Nami Yosete - Clammbon
  9. Surfer King - A.A. Bondy
  10. Hawaii - Meiko
  11. Hummingbird - Cocoon
  12. Natsu Yuuzora - Kosuke Atari

*i was watching a documentary on Saori Yuki and her collaboration with Pink Martini and one of the non-Japanese members of her audience said “Puff the Magic Dragon sounds so much better in Japanese!” now i may be biased because i’m Japanese but i think it does too! Japanese is full of vowels and can sound pretty mellow, and also i feel like so much more information and imagery can be condensed into few syllables than in English which is suitable for lyrical or poetic use. anyway my mom and i sing along to pretty much every track on that album (1969, Pink Martini & Saori Yuki) and i’ve posted a track from there before (not to mention Mas Que Nada above) so i also recommend it~ it’s an amazing listen! “Goldfish Salvation” by Riusuke Fukahori 深堀隆介

Artist Riusuke Fukahori’s London debut exhibition “Goldfish Salvation” transforms ICN gallery into the world of goldfish. When struggling with artistic vision, Fukahori’s pet goldfish became his inspiration and ever since his passion and lifelong theme. His unique style of painting uses acrylic on clear resin which is poured into containers, resulting in a three-dimensional appearance and lifelike vitality. This video gives you a glimpse of his amazing painting process.

wow, they look so real
